A confidential space to explore the thoughts, feelings and challenges in your life
Hello, and thank you for visiting. My name is Maeve and I provide psychotherapeutic counselling in Teddington and online. I have over 20 years of experience supporting children, young people, and families in a variety of roles, including family practitioner, therapist, and accredited Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) practitioner.
My work is grounded in relational and attachment-informed approaches, with particular experience in Non-Violent Resistance (NVR), Theraplay, and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP). At the heart of my practice is the belief that, with the right support, families can find their own solutions - solutions that honour their individual needs, strengths, and the unique shape of their family life.
My role is not to impose answers, but to work alongside families with compassion, curiosity, and respect, creating a space where they feel understood, supported, and empowered to make changes that feel right for them.

I believe that behaviour is often a communication of need, distress, or struggle, and that lasting change is most likely to happen within safe and trusting relationships. In my work, I help families to deepen understanding, strengthen connection, and develop new ways of responding to one another with greater confidence, calm, and compassion.
I aim to offer a warm, thoughtful, and respectful space in which families feel supported to make sense of their experiences, strengthen relationships, and move towards greater connection, confidence, and hope.
People come to me for help with with a wide range of issues. Here are a few of the more common difficulties that can be supported through therapy:
My practice is informed by relational and attachment-based approaches, including NVR, Theraplay, and DDP. This means I pay close attention to the patterns that develop in family relationships, the emotional meaning beneath behaviour, and the importance of attunement, playfulness, safety, and connection. Through this work, families can begin to reduce conflict, build resilience, and experience more hopeful and secure ways of being together.
I support children, young people, and families who may be finding things hard emotionally, relationally, or behaviourally. Family life can become overwhelmed by worry, conflict, disconnection, or uncertainty, and at times it can be difficult to know how to move forward. My role is to come alongside families in a way that feels respectful, supportive, and containing, helping them to make sense of what is happening and to find a way through that feels right for them.
I also value the power of the arts in therapeutic work with children and families. Creative approaches can offer an important pathway into expression, understanding, and connection, particularly where experiences may be hard to explain in words alone. Used sensitively, the arts can support healing, reflection, and growth in ways that feel accessible and meaningful.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how I work, or to arrange an appointment. This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to therapy, whether it could be helpful for you and whether I am the right person to help.
You can also call me on 07498 350716 if you would prefer to leave a message or speak to me first. I am happy to discuss any queries or questions you may have prior to arranging an initial appointment.
I am based at the Teddington Wellbeing Centre and also provide training and consultancy to schools around attachment, developmental trauma, and supporting children to thrive within the school environment.
Much of my parenting work is offered online via Zoom. I understand that arranging childcare and managing family schedules can be challenging, so online sessions can provide a flexible and accessible way to access support, with one less practical pressure to think about.
